Living Covenant in a Contract World
Our marriage vows call us to a covenant relationship, a bond of mutual, life-giving, lifelong, unconditional love. Our society reminds us over and over that life is a contract, an assignment of risks and benefits, tasks and roles, giving and getting, with always an escape clause. How does a couple live with these conflicting views? Living Covenant is geared to taking a step back from all that is going on in everyday life and to examining the basic relationships of marriage– with each other, with our family, with God, with society. It is a wonderful opportunity for the couples to consider privately these important relationships, and to grow in faith and love. The weekend is slow-paced, allowing time for reflection, prayer and conversation.
Sign in 7 pm on Friday; Closes Sunday by 3 p.m. with Mass.
We invite you and your spouse to spend the weekend with God, to look at your life in the quiet together, with time and space to enjoy one another without the usual distractions so that you may live your marriage with increased appreciation and joy
Joe and Cinda DeVet have been involved extensively in Family Life Ministry: Sponsor Couple training, Marriage Encounter, Natural Family Planning teaching, family vocation ministry, and days of reflection. But it is their love for and commitment to the continuing journey of growth in love and understanding of the vocation of matrimony that most contributes to their involvement in this retreat. After 48 years, their marriage continues lively, and their enthusiasm and willingness to laugh at their own mistakes invigorate their presentation style.
